RALEIGH STUDIO HISTORY

In early 2011, RATIO and Cherry Huffman Architects merged to bring a higher level of design excellence to our community partners and clients.

Cherry Huffman was founded in 1992 in Raleigh, North Carolina on the belief that architecture is a public art that powerfully shapes the human experience. For almost 20 years, Cherry Huffman built long term relationships and improved the community through its architectural and interior design work at city, county and state levels; public and private K-12 schools; universities; public libraries; select residential projects and various private sector projects. One of the most respected design firms in North Carolina, Cherry Huffman was chosen as the Firm of the Year by the American Institute of Architects, North Carolina chapter in 2009.

In addition to offering clients a deeper pool of design talent from which to draw, the merger expanded the disciplines – specifically landscape architecture, and urban design and planning – offered locally to clients in North Carolina and the Research Triangle. The merger of the two firms ultimately played a key role in establishing RATIO as a national design practice.
