The Town of Plainfield selected RATIO to prepare construction documents for the rehabilitation of fifteen historic building facades located in Plainfield’s Town Center. This area comprises the center of the Plainfield Historic District along Main Street, which is the Historic National Road (US-40).

RATIO’s Historic Preservation Studio field measured the buildings and documented existing conditions. The team met with building owners to determine their needs and goals for the project, and utilized historic photographs and other documentation to guide the rehabilitation of the facades. Construction documents were prepared, including alternates that would allow the building owners to renovate side facades facing cross streets. RATIO evaluated each façade and was able to realize cost savings over the original estimates while also revising the designs to maintain the historic integrity of the facades.

The Town of Plainfield recently posted a blog about the project. To view the blog, click here.
